Why you should have an Engagement Party

October 17, 2018

You're engaged! Congratulations! Now what?
In my opinion, hold off on the wedding planning. Enjoy the engagement bliss as much as you can because once you set that venue and date, the stress begins. TRUST.

There is one thing you should definitely do once you become engaged and that's throwing an Engagement party.

Wedding Inspiration Board (3rd time is the Charm)

October 3, 2018

We are now in October and I don't think I've been ever been excited about counting down the months for something so amazing. OK I lied, it was my first trip to DisneyWorld. So I must admit to Mr. Alanis that I don't even think the Wedding will top Disney. So let's just say that this is the 2nd exciting countdown of my life (;

I'd keep this man all to myself, however it seems only fair that you finally get to know a little more about the future hub behind Happily Ever Alanis.

Originally 2 weeks ago we were supposed to book our Venue/Date. Unfortunately things intervened and we had to hold off on it. If you think Wedding planning is the only stress you're going to face, you're wrong! Because honestly you're missing out on the stress of the journey to When are we going to officially book?!

1 Month Experience attending a Christian Church

July 27, 2018

Wow, I can't believe it has now been 4 weeks of learning about God. I say 4 weeks vs 4 Sundays because every day consisted of a question I asked Carlos about "the King". It wasn't just that Sunday that I was curious, it was every day.

Wedding Inspiration Board - Updated

July 25, 2018

If you don't recall my original inspiration board, here's a refresher.
I spent the last 4 months wedding planning of the theme I wanted to just recently realized it wasn't the same as my inspiration board a year and 3 months ago when I got engaged. Of course that meant I had to update my blog about it.

My First time going to a Christian Church

July 6, 2018

I'd never thought I'd bring religion onto my Blog but here we are, reading about it.
I'm unsure how long this post will be, if the outcome will be negative or positive, or if I'll even follow up on another post. What I do know is that I'm going to be real, so this post probably isn't going to be good for the believers out there. If you're curious just as I am, then by all means continue to read and I invite you to leave a comment with your experiences on faith.

Tips on Searching for the Perfect Wedding Venue

June 27, 2018

Searching for the Perfect Wedding Venue is hard, extremely hard. In my share of planning, I'd say it was harder than choosing Vendors. This is the place where our photos will be taken, where the guests will be judging, and most importantly, the place Carlos and I make our lifetime commitment to each other.

Wedding Dress Shopping Tips

June 6, 2018

I went Wedding Dress shopping for the first time last weekend, and I went alone.
I have never pictured my first time going alone, I actually thought I'd be with my bridesmaids, or maybe just my mother to have that personal memory between us. But I went alone.

And it wasn't because everyone was busy, no one even knew because I didn't tell anyone. I was even going to bring my Fiancé with me until I truly sat back and cancelled him out. So yes, I actually chose to go alone. I had no clue what kind of dress I wanted; the color, the fabric, the style, everything. But I did know that I wanted to go alone and find out what style I ended up liking so that I can go back to my Pinterest board and further researched that particular style.

Our Anniversary Photos with GMarie Photography

April 23, 2018

We finally got our 2nd Anniversary photos in and I am just in love with them!
I'm so excited to share these photos and to print and set up in a customized album that I have planned.

You can excuse my awkward laughs in these as this was my first professional photo shoot. However none of these photos were staged and actually are all candid shots! Which made the experience even better! Our photographer Gina Marie and her husband were friendly, funny and made us feel comfortable.

Gina has been such a great person from the beginning and has a beautiful soul. I simply cannot recommend her enough! She has picked up her love for photography and surely can capture it as well. So let me share the love with you all!

Chai Chats // How Getting Cheated On Affected Me

April 20, 2018

When I was 19, I met my 2nd boyfriend. After our 4th year, he cheated on me and did so until our 7th and final year. This was my first 'proper' boyfriend. I don't want to give said boyfriend any airtime but for the purpose of this blog post, I'm gonna have to a little bit. More than being about him though, this is more about how it made me feel and 2 years on, what it made me into. Being cheated on, affected me both positively and negatively and I guess that's kind of what I want to discuss within this blog post.

My Engagement Ring

A year ago today, it was the beginning of my life changing...Carlos proposed to me.
Today makes our One year Engagement and in honor of that, I'm going to share details about my engagement ring!

How I Edit my Instagram Photos

April 12, 2018

It's no secret that we all like to edit our photos, using filters, brightening here, and contrasting there. But where it all really starts is using a good camera. You don't need a DSLR but a good phone camera is all you need.

I'm sharing how I edit my Instagram photos, some steps vary, depending on the photo. But if you're looking for that brighter and whiter effect, well here are my steps.

How to create Instagram Highlight Icons

March 8, 2018

Ever seen some Instagram accounts have their Highlights organized into categories? Then wonder how they got those icons too?
Now typically you'll see this for business accounts, bloggers, influencers, etc. No worries, turns out you don't need to have a business account to do so! And no, you don't need to go on Etsy and pay someone to make them for you. After reading this post, you'll too soon have those cute icons on your Instagram Highlight Stories.

How to create Instagram Stories Highlights

March 2, 2018

With the recent Snapchat update, a lot of users have either deleted the app, refrain from using it or turned to Instagram stories. I've deleted my Snapchat a while ago as it sort of got boring. Sure the filters were cute and funny, there were even some that made me look 5x better than in real life.
But for people that I actually cared about what they were doing, were using Instagram stories more. Thus I transitioned too.
So if you aren't too familiar on how to use Instagram stories, it's pretty much the same thing.
Open your Story on your feed or profile and post, just like that you're done. Your stories last 24 hours and if you set your archive on, the content will always be there in case you ever want to re-upload.

DIY: Affordable Baby Gender Reveal Backdrop (or any theme)

February 24, 2018

My sister is having a Gender Reveal Party for her new little nugget. Since I have the honor of knowing what the baby will be, I accepted her request to make a backdrop for her party.
I've made a backdrop before for my bestie's Bridal Shower so I gladly accepted!
When you look on Etsy or browse around to have one made for you, you'll see a price that'll make you want to change your mind on even having a backdrop. I am for one, wasn't going to hire someone to make it and charge me over $100 to maybe end up being thrown away!
So why not a Affordable DIY backdrop? My sister spent $6 and me, $13. That's less than $20 in total!

Our Proposal

Today is our 2 year Anniversary and I decided to dedicate this post on sharing our proposal story.

Wedding Inspiration Board

January 31, 2018

Happy Wedding Wednesday! I didn't even know that was a thing? Well at least when I wasn't engaged-lol. I'm going to make my wedding planning a Wedding Wednesday series on my blog. Don't expect a new post every Wednesday, I'd be too busy stressed about planning a Wedding, no way I want to add creating a new post! As my first Wedding Wednesday (omg how many times can I say that?), I'd like to saaaaaaay...
I cannot believe we are finally choosing a date next month! Wedding planning is about to get SURREAL. Ok, we aren't technically going to book our date but we're going to sit down and finally decide the month/season. What more of a better time to show you guys my Wedding Inspiration board!!

We're Iced In

January 18, 2018

This post is going up late but that's because we were pretty much iced in and that means I got to sleep in. Think snowed in but instead it's a sleet of ice, where it's unsafe to drive and even walk. The office, schools and businesses were closed. People up North probably thought we were fools, us Houstonians do not know how to react when the temperature hits below 20.  But it sure wasn't funny when I took out Togepi for his morning walk and slipped in the hallway.

Chicago for New Years

January 6, 2018

We are back from Chicago! Well we've been back since Tuesday. We landed in Houston at 11PM.
Chicago is so beautiful! It's expensive, the food was great, it really is known as the windiest city and it had a lot to offer. I also didn't know that Carlos has family there, so it's a possibility that we will go back- yay! I'm hoping during Summer now that we experienced it in Winter.

January 1, 2018

Happy New Years!

2018. Wow. Do you ever feel like time is seriously rushing by and you're wondering, 'what am I doing?!' I'm not sure where this blog is going but I've always wanted to start one of my own and after following a couple of other influencers, I finally decided to just do it. And I have my Fiancé to thank for that.

Now I'm not going to come off as someone that I'm not and be behind a screen feeding my future readers a life that I don't have. People I know in real life are going to end up here and know the bullshit. Oh and since this blog is mine, I'll be talking as how I please. So if you're easily offended by potty mouths and easily annoyed by girly shrieking screams, you're on the wrong blog.

This isn't going to be a lifestyle blog of fashion and beauty as you see everywhere. On occasions you'll probably stumble upon a couple of posts containing those tid bits, but by all means, don't read it. I'm no beauty guru and I have no idea what the hell I'm honestly talking about.
This blog is mine and I wish to make it my online diary. I want to actually write about my daily activities, express my frustrations and fears, share these ventures in my life. .

I'm 28 years old and I'm at the moment of my life that I actually feel pretty content. Aside of my constant anxiety and minor depression days, I'm happy right now. Some people might laugh that I'm doing this publicly, some people might be curious/nosey and want to know what I'm actually writing about. My Fiancé is a great supporter and knows that I need this. And truthfully, I cannot wait to read back on all these posts 3 years from now, when we're already married, living in a home and possibly, starting a family.

I'm scared but here's my first post and obviously that did not stop me from making this blog.
I really do hope you stay.

P.S, We're in Chicago!!
